About Christina Upchurch
Christina created Scoliosis Wellness from a deeply personal place: to provide the knowledge, understanding, and compassionate care she wished she had growing up with scoliosis.
Her journey began at just eight years old when she was diagnosed with scoliosis. At nine, she wore a Boston brace, and at thirteen, she underwent spinal fusion surgery. Living through the physical and emotional challenges of scoliosis gave Christina a firsthand understanding of what it feels like to navigate pain, movement limitations, uncertainty, and a body that can sometimes feel difficult to understand.
But her journey didn’t end with surgery. It became the beginning of a lifelong commitment to learning how to care for her body and live well with scoliosis.
In 2008, Christina graduated from the 1,000-hour massage therapy program at Brian Utting School of Massage, in Seattle, WA. Through massage, she discovered the profound impact that skilled, intentional touch can have on pain, tension, mobility, and the nervous system—particularly for those living with scoliosis.
Her passion for understanding the body continued to grow. In 2018, she became a certified 200-hour yoga teacher through Parallel University, here in Vancouver, WA, deepening her knowledge of movement, posture, strength, flexibility, breath, and relaxation. She took a few CE courses learning about yoga with scoliosis. In 2022, she became a certified Scolio-Pilates® Practitioner, adding scoliosis-specific movement and alignment to her work.
In 2026, Christina became a Reiki Practitioner after experiencing the benefits of Reiki in her own body. Over the years, she began noticing that some clients were deeply motivated to work with their scoliosis, yet their bodies weren’t always ready for movement or physical work. Pain, tension, and experiences of physical or emotional trauma could sometimes create barriers to progress.
Christina recognized that healing is not always about doing more. Sometimes the body first needs to feel safe enough to let go.
Reiki became another way for her to support clients—creating space for relaxation, nervous system regulation, and the release of physical and emotional tension that may be held within the body.
Care rooted in experience. Wellness shaped around you.

A Personalized Approach
Christina believes there is no single approach to living well with scoliosis. Every body is different. Every spine is different. Every person carries their own experiences, history, and needs.
That is why she takes the time to truly listen.
Her approach is intuitive, compassionate, and individualized. She pays attention not only to where a client feels pain, but to how they move, breathe, compensate, hold tension, and experience their body as a whole. She meets each person where they are and adapts her care to what their body needs in that moment.
Most importantly, Christina wants her clients to feel heard, understood, and safe.
She knows what it is like to be the person on the other side of the table—to have questions, frustrations, fears, and hopes about a body that doesn’t always behave the way you want it to. Her own experience with scoliosis allows her to connect with clients in a way that goes beyond professional knowledge. She understands because she has lived it.
Why Scoliosis Wellness
Christina opened Scoliosis Wellness in 2019 after receiving numerous requests from people in her community who were looking for care that addressed more than just their symptoms.
She saw an opportunity to create something different: a space where scoliosis could be approached from a whole-person perspective.
Today, Scoliosis Wellness offers massage therapy, Scolio-Pilates®, yoga and Pilates-based movement, and Reiki to support the physical, emotional, and mental aspects of wellness.
Christina continues to learn, grow, and evolve her practice because she believes her clients deserve care that evolves with them. She stays curious, continues expanding her knowledge, and listens closely to the people she serves.
For Christina, this work is much more than a career. It is deeply personal.
She is passionate about helping people feel more comfortable, capable, and connected to their bodies—and she finds purpose in seeing the impact that compassionate, individualized care can have on someone’s life.
Her goal is simple: to help each person feel supported in their body, empowered in their journey, and confident that they don’t have to navigate scoliosis alone.
